COACHING IN SURREY .

The County Association through the Surrey Bowls Alliance fully supports the Bowls Development Alliance (BDA) Coaching Programme.

David covers the Active Surrey Sport Partnership area. This is the rural boroughs of Surrey (Elmbridge, Epsom & Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley , Reigate & Banstead, Runnymede, Tandridge, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Waverley and Woking .

Denise covers the Pro-Active South London Sports Partnership area. This is the London boroughs of Surrey (Croydon, Kingston upon Thames, Merton, Richmond on Thames , Sutton and Wandsworth)

Until such time as the BDA full coaching programmes are launched, coaching courses will be carried out according to the existing English Bowls Coaching Syllabus under the Surrey Bowls Alliance with approval from the BDA.

Current Course availability:

Courses are run for bowlers wishing to become coaches. Coaching is a very worthwhile and satisfying aspect of bowling and becoming a club coach provides you with essential insurance cover. For more details contact the organisers

Level 3 Course – Senior Coach

For Club Coaches (with at least two years experience) who wish to progress to senior coach, training courses are available and include travelling with the team on seminars with the aim of achieving your Level 3  Certificate which takes about two years. For more details contact Denise Smith

Surrey Markers Course:

Courses are run for bowlers who wish to improve their knowledge of marking at club level. Some are then encouraged to extend this to qualify as “county standard” markers who will be asked to mark County competitions and finals. For more details contact the organisers

All day and half day coaching seminars are run by the coaching team throughout the year. These Seminars are an ideal way of improving standards at your club. The team use video analysis to coach delivery action and style. Also covering basic reading and building the head and explain some of the requirements of marking and measuring. Also offered are more advanced seminars for experienced bowlers to fine-tune their game. For more details contact the organisers
